Day 1
Your tour guide will meet you at Junia Guesthouse at 9am after breakfast. Together you will walk, slowly, towards the entrance of Gunung Leuser National park. As you are walking your guide will then teach you about the massive variety of wildlife and fauna in the National Park. Once you reach the national park entrance, your search for wildlife begins. You will have a chance to see Thomas Leaf Monkeys, Pig Tail and Long Tail Macaques, Hornbills, Gibbons and of course, semi-wild and wild orangutans.
You will have a break after around 1 or 2 hours for some delicious local fruit and another at around 1pm for your jungle lunch, some Nasi Goreng. After lunch, you will trek for another couple of hours, arriving at your campsite beside a small stream of the Bohorok River where you can relax and refresh in the crystal clear water with some coffee or tea and biscuits. As night falls you will enjoy some delicious local food with a candle lit dinner. Your guide will teach you some jungle stories, tricks and games.
Day 2 & 3
On day 2 and 3, you will wake up surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. To start the day, you can go for a swim/wash in the river. You’ll start the day with some tea or coffee with biscuits and then at 9am have some breakfast. At around 10am, you will start trekking, venturing deep into the jungle to search for some wildlife. During your trek you will stop for some fruit and lunch. You will search deeper into the jungle with a good chance of spotting wild orangutans. At around 4pm you will arrive at another campsite and here you will chill, swim, enjoy some tea/coffee with biscuits and have dinner with your guide falling asleep surrounded by the sound of nature.
Day 4 to Last Day
From day 4 to your final day, you will venture deeper into the jungle to search for some of the most unique and amazing wildlife in the park such as wild elephants, tiger footprints and deers. You will walk together with your guide and your porter carrying all of the equipment to build your campsite in the jungle. As you walk, you will collect some food from the jungle, like vegetables and bamboo. On longer treks, you will have complete control over how you would like your jungle experience to be and have the opportunity to go fishing or stay in the same campsite for a day and relax. When you arrive at your campsite at night you will work together to build your campsite in the jungle collecting wood and building tents.
Last Day
After your last night in the jungle, you can relax in the campsite. You will have some freshly made coffee/tea and some jungle breakfast.
